Actually yes, Celsius is based off the freezing and boiling points of water 0 and 100 degrees, which gives us a good standardized measurement of temperature. Fahrenheit on the other hand was "oh it's hot today so lets make that 100" and "oh it's cold today lets make that 0" there is no method to this whatsoever

I measure things in feet, I know my pool is 48 feet long. I am 5 feet and 11 inches tall. It is 91 degrees right now and I know what that means. Why change?

1 in. = 1 in.
12 ins. = 1ft.
36 ins. = 1yd.
How many inches equals a mile?  It's harder to convert, it's actually all about memorization
