How much do you nice folk spend on this game on average?

Average per what amount of time? Or total

Yeah I'm 17 and have a job, but it just hurts me to put lots of money into such a recreational thing haha

In the last year since I've started playing again, counting tournaments, singles, packs, and stamps to send trades to people on here I've spent $2464 and some cents...

Which equates to about $200 a month.

Wow, that's very specific! Haha

Well, lets extrapolate.  Every set I get 2 boxes and 2 fat packs.  A box runs about $107, fat packs about $46 (all after taxes).  So, for each set, I initially spend ~$306.  Now, avg 4 sets a year, ~$1224.  Now, for 4 weeks after a set comes out, my LGS runs a draft for FNM.  So, that's ($15 x 4 weeks) x 4 sets, that's ~$240.  Gamedays are usually about $5, so $20 for that a year.  Pre-release is usually ~$25, so there's ~$100 a year for that.  36 weeks of standard at FNM at $5, that's about $180.  So, lets add all that up, we get ~$1764.  This doesn't include single purchases, random booster packs, or if I get to attend a PTQ or GPT.

Damn i thought there was some trick i was missing out on, i guess i have to get a job

Yeah, here's a little secret:

Jobs are a great way to get money.

😜

Hard part is finding a hiring business in your small town so you don't have to drive 30-40 minutes on 10-12 mpg 

Aaand that's why I bike to work when weather permits.

I mostly just sort through the commons box an every once in a while. Buy something like a fat pack or deck builders toolkit to help me get cards for trades. Though I think on my last trade one of the cards fell out of the envelope because when I recived the envelope it had been torn open on one end. At least that's what I'm going to belive and I'm not going to ask for compensation

Jesus, you driving a Hummer? 🙊

Nope.  '97-'98 (can't remember the year exactly ) Ford F-250 :(

And Mike, a 30-40 minute drive would be a long way to go on a bike considering I've still got to get to 2 different schools as well 

Yeeeeah I could see how that would be a hindrance. I work eight miles from where I live and my truck gets 19 to the gallon. Money (ha, kinda funny this is in a thread about how much we spend on Magic) being tight right now, I bike when I can.

I feel your pain though. For a long time, my only way around was a 1980 Chevy Silverado that got MAYBE nine to the gallon. Luckily I've upgraded to an '04 Silverado that is awesome.

Rass

Well the new Toyota tundras don't get the high end on the estimated mph

MuggyWuggy

Y'all with poor truck mileage OUCH

I just got back into mtg and dropped about $250 between eBay and buying a gatecrash box. This spending was between November to Meow.

Fortunately with eBay Ive resold about 30% of my cards in repacks, so that helped recycle money easily. People have been excited to get useful cards from me.

I see myself buying a box per set, maybe 2 fat packs, after buying a two player intro set, I'll never buy that again.

I've Made 4 vintage decks and 4 edh decks, don't see myself doing standard - this is a hobby to escape to when I don't feel like dealing with adult life, standard just feels like another thing to keep up with. I gotta get back into geeking out my G35 (which has pretty good mileage), definitely enjoy my collection, worth every penny Ive spent, and I'm confident with my cards for sale/trade it will all balance out to $0 :)
