When did cards start having the cleaner, more modern look?

I miss the old style borders personally. With that being said I can and have lived with the change. The one things that always ticked me off was changing artifacts from brown to silver. Brown was way better imo. Sure, silver stands out more, but it makes it feel so cheap to me.

I agree about artifacts. They should've kept it brown. Artifacts will always be brown to me.

It did add a rustic feel to them.
