Ok so heres the deal.
I have always thought that "Mind control" enchantments trumps effects and spells.
I.e I cast {Mind control} on your {Kird Ape} i gain control of it. Next turn you cast {Gruul Charm} and gain back control with the enchantment still there.
I always thought that eventhough the charm for example is an indefinite effect i would gain control of the ape at the next state check because the enchantment is there.
What is right and what is wrong?
Who controls the poor confused monkey?

Trunksthemighty

I think they would take control of the enchantment as well.

I own mind control so why would they get it?

Rigeld

Look down the page at the Soul Ransom thread.

I'm not sure how to link using the iPad app or I would.

That thread didnt make any sense to me thats why im asking here in my own way.

But they control {mind control} so the effect should be theirs... {vedalken shackles} takes control of creatures an you get their effects, without owning it... If mind control were an equipment theyd gain control, but your ownership would allow you to re-equip it to a creature of yours from their side of the field. Control and own have different applicable traits

Rigeld

You still control Mind Control, but the Gruul Charm is a continuous effect. Essentially your enchantment becomes worthless.

Yeah thats what everyone says but why?
Doesnt the enchantment go "Hey look the controler of me controls this creature! Here you go!"

It did.
And he took control back.

It did.
And he took control back.
And again the enchantment goes "Still enchanted! Back i go!" Except this time theres no charm.

{Gruul charm} Gain control of all permanents you own.

Keyeto

Whatever the last "Gain control of" effect was takes precedence. The enchantment remains on the creature, but no longer has an effect on the controller of the card. It is a one shot deal, and will need to be cast again in order for it to take effect again.

Imagine the Gruul charm produces an emblem that says "You control all permanents you own. Ignore all control effects from other spells, permanents, or effects played before this."
I keep hearing that but no one tells me why?
And why wont the enchantment be recognized at the next state check? It doesnt say "When Mind control etb gain control of enchanted creature." It says "You control enchanted creature." The creature is still enchanted even though i lost control back to its original owner. Why does he get to keep it when its still enchanted?
