Is the exact number of damage dealt determined by the toughness of the creature receiving the damage or by the power of the creature attacking?
Example: an attacking 4/4 with lifelink is being blocked by a 1/1. The 1/1 is killed. Does the attacking player gain 4 life or 1?

Keyeto

Damage dealt is determined by the power of the creature. In your example, you would gain 4 life.

510.1c ...blah blah blah...An amount of damage that's greater than a creature's lethal damage may be assigned to it.
