He doesn't look terrible. That kills {Searing Spear}, {Pillar of Flame}, etc. and forces them to use something like {Dreadbore}, etc.

I got really excited about this dude, then I saw that he had to take damage. He's pretty bad. Is it me or have most of the rares so far seemed like jank?

How are you mad with this, it's {Black Cat} on crack and it's when it takes damage, period. Looks mean on the board, you smack it with something and blow up whatever. Awesome card, mix it with red and beef {Olivia Voldaren} and blow up a {Jace, Architect of Thought}, I'm happy.

On a second note I just thought about it, orzhov is made for red {Pillar of Flame} with extort? Too easy and cheap.

Are you guys forgetting about {Jace, Memory Adept}. 10 life loss seems a little better that "pretty bad." Not to mention {sands of delirium}.

the mechanic isn't strong but a lot of the non-mechanic cards are.

Obzedat doesn't seem horrible. I can't think of a "guild leader" that has hit constructed. The council might? It has an EtB effect so it might hit constructed. I know I'm sliding into my Esper EDH deck.

{Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius}
{Isperia, Supreme Judge}
{Trostani, Selesnya's Voice}
{Rakdos, Lord of Riots}

Have all been met with less then enthusiastic praise. Amongst all of them, Isperia and Niv-Mizzet spent a little while as reanimator targets. Obzedat at least impacts the board when it appears, it's EtB effect may see some play.
