If I have a  {Champion of the Parish} on the battle field along with a  {Precinct Captain} and then I attack with the  {Precinct Captain} and I get the soldier token from its ability  does the  {Champion of the Parish} still get the +1/+1 counter?

On a related note, if you are using older cards, it IS worth looking them up on a database. Many old cards have been given a creature type on the Oracle text that is not listed on the card itself.

Examples: {Gerrard Capashen}, {Shaman en-Kor}.

Plenty of old Soldier cards have been updated to Human Soldiers and those ones will work with {Champion of the Parish}.

Fun story, before they fixed that creature type issue, all changelings were {Uncle Istvan}s. (thanks to The Dark)

But as far as tokens go, soldiers are just soldiers and not humans. If you're looking for human token generators, I suggest trying {Increasing devotion} or {Thraban Doomsayer}
