Can you  {Cyclonic Rift} a PW in response to its ability and if do does that ability still resolve?

Fenster

Well if the ability goes off then no. But im not sure if you get priority after it enters the bf or if the owner of the pw can pop its first ability instantly.

The ability will still resolve, and you don't get priority before the ability is put on the stack once a planeswalker resolves.

PW abilities are at sorcery speed correct? So after it enters and before they play its ability I can rift it with out them using its ability?

No you don't get priority before they use the ability. It goes on the stack and they pass priority, you pass it back and it resolves, and before they pass it back to you they can put the planes walkers ability on the stack because they have priority and since there will be no other spells on the stack, they can use the ability even though its sorcery speed.

Okie dokie, thanks for clearing that up. 👍

Woah what. That makes no sense to me lol. I don't get how a sorcery speed ability can be used "in response". My planeswalker usage would of been much better if this is true and would of known it

It's not being used in response to anything. Whenever a spell resolves priority goes back to the active player. Since there is nothing left to resolve it is once again the active players mainphase and since he has priority he is allowed to use a sorcery speed ability. However, if he were to cast another spell before he used the pw ability, it could then be cyclonic rifted and could not respond with an ability.

He's saying that after your pw resolves you have priority. No one can do anything unless you do something first. So if you play a pw, if its not countered, you can use its first ability unhindered.

A lot of people don't realize what priority is, that's why if you want to properly learn to play besides being a master of the rule book, MTGO is ideal.

Omg. My mind is blown. This actually makes sense
