Planeswalker question

Here's the scenario, I play {Gideon Jura} +2 ability and my opponent during his turn attacks accordingly and some damage is not blocked. My opponent plays {bloodlord of vaasgoth} during his second main phase. Does his creature receive the blood thirst 3 since and opponent received damage. To sum up my question is a planeswalker considered a oppenent?

Simply put, no it isn't.  Bloodthirst would trigger if a Planewalker was damaged.
