I heard that even if you have 0 life, you don't lose until the end of the turn. So if i cast {channel} and payed 20, would i lose immeadiatley or at end of turn? Because im not sure if {channel}+{soul conduit} combo is a one hit kill, or if i can only do 19 damage.

izik99

Can someone atleast tell me what rule this is mentioned in?

Greg54js

As far as I know when you hit zero, unless you have {platinum angel}, you lose then and there

Oh. You can still swing for 19 though, so its still a good combo.

izik99

So it does swing for 20! That means you would lose next player's upkeep!

Ghebert

No. That would be the next players 'turn'.
This says 'priority'. The opponent would gain priority if you cast anything, activated any abilities, or ended your 'phase'. Pretty much. Whenever they can 'respond' to something.

BlackJester

The rule you are talking about is ancient, but at that time, yes you had until the end of the turn before you died. Now you have until the next time the state is checked (as soon as someone can cast an instant for example)

Sorry jester I didn't have time this mowing to go through 700 rules to find the newest one 

XD  You won't find this rule unless you look through a rule book from 1998 or earlier.  It has LONG since changed.

Also, I was referring to the "you don't die until the end of the phase" rule that OP mentioned.

My apologies, I should have been clearer.

Greg54js

So then my rule number was right?

Use the first 7 mana to cast platinum angel haha.  Then you can go negative health if you want and swap :p

BlackJester

Some other way, yeah. But you can't go to negative life with {Channel}. You can't pay with something you don't have. You can go to zero though.

Coffee Vampire

I wish I could pay with stuff I don't have...it would be useful in my future...

"WHERE IS THE F****** RENT!?!?!"
"I already payed for it with negative money! :D"

Wait nvm that actually does happen...
