If I have 30+ life and an {archon of redemption} out when a {Serra ascendant} enters the battlefield do I gain life from the archon because the ascendants conditions are met to give it flying?

Imagine this situation, but instead of playing a {Serra Ascendant} you play {Serra Avatar}. It would come in as a 30/30. You gain 30 life and it become a 60/60 after it resolves. 😳

It would come in with power and roughness equal to your life total (30). Making at a 30/30 and you like gain life equal to its power. Putting you at 60 life. Bringing {Serra Avatar} to 60/60. Correct?

lol now when I say that, I don't mean it to be rude. It's been a joke for my friends lately while playing DOTP 2013, playing 2HG, we always make redonk mistakes because we glossed over the card. Causing us to lose the game. For example, I played the card that makes everyone life total equal to how many creatures they have after a day of judgement was played by my partner... I thought it said opponents. DERP! Instant lose! Everybody yelling RTFC bro! What the hell!
