Can counters lose their ability?

To keep simple I played Ovinize (has 0/1 and loses all abilities) on target creature that had +1/+1 counters on it.. If the card states ALL abilities does this include the ability that the counters give (not removing the counters just simply nullifying their ability)

For instance, the opponent attacks me directly with a creature(1/1) that has one counter (+1/+1) on it.. So I activate Ovinize, (Target creature loses all abilities and becomes 0/1 until end of turn.) regardless of the counter, (+1/+1) will the creature do damage?

Counters are not an ability. Your creature p/t is set to x/y by any p/t setting effect before p/t changing effects(not setting effects) are applied. Thus your creature would become 0/1, and then the counter would be taken into consideration to make it a 1/2. It is about layers of effects. Ask Jester for more info on effect applying layers

Darn.. Lol well it was fair play then..
Yea I might have went overboard since the card is saying creature ability and not counter ability which with-in keywords ino of can't be accurate and yea also it's constant effect would always apply after every action

There are 7 layers, like dip. 🍵

It doesnt really matter though.  Simply put, counters are markers of some property. Not an ability.

It doesn't matter to the ability taking, but matters to the "becomes 0/1

If I understand what ur saying correctly, if my opponent has a 5/5 creature out with 5 +1\+1 counters = a 10/10 total then I cast {turn to toad} on it, it then becomes a  1/1 creature out with 5 +1\+1 counters = a 6/6.
