A good idea!  Just make sure you don't try to count the storm copies as triggering the kiln. Otherwise, I think it would be a good match.

Would {fling} activate {kiln fiend}'s ability and make it bigger? Or would it be dead by the time you sacrifice it? Because it does say when you CAST and not resolve an instant/sorcery but fling says "as an additional cost to play". Makes my head spin

Don't think so. It's an additional cost in order to cast it, so it's already dead before the trigger can go off.
