I want to create a blu/black mill deck. Need help getting started. Advice please? I will post what I have created after i have gotten some input

August 13 update: so ive seen a few things i like and here is what i got so far...changes?

- 4 Jace's Phantasm
- 3 Vedalken Entrancer
- 1 Havengul Lich
- 2 Jace, memory adept
- 1 Tamiyo, the Moon Sage

Sorcery's
- 4 Mind Sculpt
- 2 Dreadwaters
- 4 Dream Twist
- 4 Thought Scour
- 3 Downpour
- 2 Sleep
- 2 Crippling Chill
- 3 Unsummon
- 4 Mind Rot
- 2 Increasing Confusion
- 3 Essence Scatter

Land:
- 1 Reliquary Tower
- 9 Islands
- 9 Swamps
- 1 Drowned Catacomb

Sideboard:
- 3 Silent Departure
- 2 Chill of Foreboding
- 3 Index

Karrthus

Wait for ravnica. It will most likely have some pretty good mill.

Coffee Vampire

Start out with 4x {Mind Sculpt}. also 4x {Jace's Erasure}. And you will want the mill jace (forgot the name...brainfart.)

If you have {Jace's Erasure} then you should probably have 1 or 2 {Otherworld Atlas}. 1 {Jace's Erasure} makes {Otherworld Atlas} double. {Staff of Nin} also combos well with the erasure (if you run enough lands to get it out).

On the subject of creatures, {Jace's Phantasm} is a good milling creature. However I do not recomend it. I think if you go mill you should go mill all the way. So replace the phantasms you would have had with mill stuff or defense mechanisms. Trying to deal damage in a mill deck is like running infect creatures along with normal ones.

One creature I do recomend is the new {Fog Bank}. IMHO it is not as good as the mini emerkul creature from RoE, but it does a good job. You will need more defense than 4 foggys though. Just experiment.

As for sideboarding, I seriously have no idea.

Hope this helps :)

Inconnu

For defense or attack delaying while your milling:
{vapor snag}
{unsummon}
{downpour}
{sleep}
Any legal counter spell
I've been looking at doing a similar deck

Inconnu

Also for some attack plus milling:
{invisible stalker} + {trepanation blade}

Almosteric

{mind shrieker} is another good mill creature

The best b/u mill right now is b/u control with {liliana of the veil} and {karn liberated} as the only board presence. Then run {nephelia drownyard} and {blue sun's zenith}. They act as mana and draw card early game, and mill win con late game.

Really? No one has said {Sands of Delirium} yet!? It's a must!!!

Sands does nothing by itself, and mill only works if you can stay alive long enough to do it. Great for a Tfog deck though.

It mills! But i see what you're saying. I would run like 2 in a mill deck.

It's like a {grindclock} that you can use when you put it out.

Also if you do run {jaces phantasm} you could also run {mind crank} for some bonus.

I think the idea of the phantasm tho is you mill them as a form of control and then hit hard with a beefy flyer. It's great if you have 2 of them. Over so quickly if they get thru.
