Me and my girlfriend like to double date with this other couple a lot. And we totally go to McDonalds and play magic, or all go to FNM. And there is always other girls there when we go. I build my gf's decks for her, but the other girl kicked my butt with an {acidic slime} and {deadeye navigator} combo one night. I love playing girls because they aren't as much jerks as the guys are.

I wish more girls played at my FNM. I've only seen one and she destroyed me with BW tokens

In my opinion and experience, I think it partly has to do with the fact that magic is drawing more females in to the game.  As a result there are a lot of new players that are female.  You see a few new girls play and they make the same n00b mistakes that we all did, ask the same n00b questions we all did, and guys just start making assumptions.

There are some very skilled female players out there and I can't wait til they start making Pro Tours.

The FNM I went to last week there were a few girls mostly with boyfriends but I noticed even ones that were good players, the guys they were matched against kept telling them how to play and assumed they needed help. Another thing I noticed at my card shop I went to yesterday, they don't have girls to often and yesterday I went with two friends who are girls and the guys kept making a lot of crude sex jokes not directed at them but around them because I guess that's how they joke around when it's all guys.

Come to Seattle, there are many women who play and no one thinks twice about it. It's ridiculous that this is even a topic of conversation.

I agree. Ridiculous. Also, I live in southern California, where most girls think they're above just about everything.

At a card shop about an hour away from my house they have a ladies night every tuesday and girls play free.

Why is it ridiculous?

I don't think there's been a single post saying that girls/women are worse at MtG.  Only that in certain areas they are treated poorly.  I'm very glad to hear that Seattle doesn't experience that.  That's great!

Moneekahh

It's ridiculous that female magic players are treated any differently than males. I'm not sure if that's what Seattle guy was getting at, but that's how I took it.

No argument with that, but I don't know if that's what he meant. Just looking for clarification really.

Ghetto Pass

That's exactly what I meant, it's a card game.  Gender isn't an issue.

It's a game played by people with genders.  People of one gender are being mean to to the other.  That's uncool.

I think Stack seems masculine to me.  *shrug*  Must be the 'ack' part.  ;D
