I don't have all the cards yet though. I got some in a zendikar booster which gave me the idea to make an ally deck. I plan on buying the others sometime soon.

And yes, allies were quite the rage. They were, and still are pretty awesome.

The problem with the Evangel is that you can't use protection during your opponent's turn.

Actually I think I might keep evangel after all. You can get protection with it during your opponents turn if you combine it with {Join the Ranks} because it's an instant.
