Life gain

As a Magic The Gathering player since the year 19 and 94 I am a seasoned veteran. I have set out in a search to find the most effective way to gain life as I am unwilling to accept 20 life points and want to become a 1%'er by having more life points than any player during a given game of Magic(trademark r). I have scoured the depths of every set (even Fallen Empires) in search of that card or the combo that will deliver me the high echelon of life I expect after such an effort. My conclusion is not a hard to accomplish combo or a pricey relic of old, it is none other than the {merchant ship}. If anyone knows a better way to do what the {merchant ship} does so peaceably then I stand here ready to listen

The soul sisters seem like a good way to gain large amounts of life.

{Soul's Attendant}

...by having 4 of any combination of these cards out, a simple {Gather the Townsfolk} will fetch you 8 life.

An {Alliance of Arms} for 4 would fetch you 36 life. 5 mana for 36 life? Not bad :p

{soul warden} and all the other EtB life gainers can get out of hand.  Then toss in {Serra ascendant} and it gets real fun once you hit 30 life.  Of course you can have an early {ajanis Pridemate} out so he gets real big then hook him up with an {armadillo cloak} and you will be a true 1%er as you suck the life force from the lil guys.....Muwhahaha!!!!!
