Lore and Characters

There has been a lot of talk about lore recently, and I have (at least) two questions from card art. 1. Odric is rocking quite the Avacyn blade, how does he relate to Innistrad?
2. Ajani's new art has one eye shut, I thought it a little weird, so I was wondering if lost an eye somehow? Trying out the Odin look?
