So i got my girlfriend started on an edh deck and need help on what to keep my eyes out for to improve it. The comander is Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief and therefore the deck is clearly mono black. I need to know what staple cards she needs. She wants the bloodcrank combo, which is actually a pretty scary idea with how much her deck can just search for the missing piece.

Let me see if I can pull some ideas together. What are the components of the bloodcrank combo?

Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank.
As it stands she has sime of the basic vampire cards from zendikar, and some great search like Rune-Scarred Demon, Increasing Ambition, and Liliana Vess.

She could go with your theme. So I say go for it!

I think her AND the M13 one. You could run plenty of tutors like her {Rune-Scarred Demon} and {Diabolic Tutor} to find stuff like Lilliana and other stuff like her Bloodcrank.

For black? {Black sun Zenith} is decent.

There are plenty of ramp options (part of the reason I said you should get the M13 Lilliana, if you haven't seen her then look her up). You can get the Myr that taps for black- {Leaden Myr} I think. {Sphere of the Suns}, {Sol Ring}, {Caged Sun} if you name black.
