A warning to all traders!!!

Be careful in what you send your cards in! Normal letter mail envelopes don't quite cut it. Recently I received a trade that was completely empty, it was torn on the side due to the fact that the letter mail envelope couldn't handle the weight. Needless to say, it really sucked. Just be very careful in what you send your cards in, we are essentially trading money here. I will not name any names, because it could have happened to anyone. I just want to spread the word so we all know better in the future.

P.S. This has happened to me before, but last time my mail and cards were put inside a plastic bag type mailer, along with a generic apology sticker from the post office. I shrugged it off, but I really shouldn't have.

I wouldn't say it's a tarnish. Just very unfortunate. I try to get the small bubble mailers for trades, but at 3 bucks a pop it can get expensive. So lately I've used like greeting card packs. 10 envelopes, stamps, and cards. Always used the hard plastic card sleeve things.

Haha well I figured on most of em, why waste a greeting card right. So now you can use it for a real purpose. Though I forget who, on one of em I wrote Anthrax!

A simple and cost efficient solution is to wrap your trade in another piece of scrap paper, before it hits the envelope.  This way the top loading sleve won't cut its way thru the envelope.

Another way to help with this is throw in a $1.50 extra in cards to cover the extra shipping cost if your receiving a lot. The big sleeves don't hold more than 3 cards and no more than 2 big sleeves in a normal envelope. So if your trading more than 6 cards and the other person is only trading 2-3 ask for the extra 1-1.50 so you can pack and ship it safe also you can wrap the side of a regular envelope with clear packaging tape to help make sure it doesn't cut through. Also try to meet someone half way if this happens to you it shouldn't be a complete loss as a trader it is your responsibility to make sure the the other person gets your end regardless if it's the USPS who screws that up. So don't make just one party eat it talk it out and see if you can make it less one side getting the shaft.

The post office sells envelopes that have a thicker paper so I dont think the envelopes can be cut open by the plastic sleeve I you use those...

I might suggest finding a way to keep the card in the case, because if it comes out there's a chance it might tear (if you year open the envelope)
