Sorry to just interject like that, but it bugs me when judges make mistakes on things they ought to know.

You can use a fast effect while the miracle trigger is on the stack, but It IS an ability sitting on the stack when you reveal it. If you reveal it during you draw step, you can't leave it on display an move to your main phase hoping to miracle it later in the turn.

Coffee Vampire

Dude...your judge needs a BJ lesson! If you do anything before casting the miracle, you missed the trigger and must pay the full price!

Knew45

Yea. I saw that he drew. Then played a land. Then miricled it and i was like huh, didnt know you could play it later in your turn

In that draw I drew the wrath and had a mountain in my hand... The wrath never touched my cards

Your judge is wrong.

So what's right?
"CR702.92a Miracle is a static ability linked to a triggered ability (see rule 603.10). "Miracle [cost]" means "You may reveal this card from your hand as you draw it if it's the first card you've drawn this turn. When you reveal this card this way, you may cast it by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost."

702.92b If a player chooses to reveal a card using its miracle ability, he or she plays with that card revealed until that card leaves his or her hand, that ability resolves, or that ability otherwise leaves the stack."

Miracle is a trigger and gets put on the stack. You can respond with other instants or fast effects, but when the Miracle ability resolves you either choose to cast the spell for its miracle cost or return the card with the rest of you hand and let the trigger lapse. From then on, you cannot cast it for its miracle cost.

Kuberr

So does this happen before untap phase?

BlackJester

Kuberr

I think the judges around here need a lesson or two.

They say it all happens at the same time. After I lol for a while I correct them and show them the proper rule.

You would do some good around here jester.

darkarts981

All this is confusing!
Can you cast a card as a miracle after you have played a land or not? I just want a yes or no.

BlackJester

No. Just assume you cast it when you draw it and you'll be fine.

Now, if you use {Merfolk Looter} on their turn, you have to draw and discard before you Miracle. So if you had no cards in hand, you won't be able to miracle it.
