Only 3 rounds?
Drafting is only three rounds, eh?

Not for the 162 man draft I go to.
Yes, well we all know you're special. I think it's safe to assume that, unless otherwise stated, a draft is 8 people at a table, single elim.

So wait. There's never Swiss drafts?

BlackJester

I didn't say never, but in my experience (mostly Prerelease events) drafts are typically single elimination.

Wow. Must be my store then.

Which do you prefer? Swiss or single elim?

Milo109

I have 2-3 table drafts at my local shop

How do they opperate a 162 person draft?  Do the same cards get passed around everyone? Split into groups? How long does that take?  That's bigger the the prereleases here.

Silent1236

Yes, places do drafts :P. Anyways, Bsully, I'd be pretty mad too lol

Chicago Illinois at acen. The anime convention there.

We passed out 3 packs to everyone in each pod. I can't remember how many pods there were, but after the pods completed their decks, they reported and waited for round one.

I remember we didn't want to make it swiss because of how many people there was. So we made a bracket style for single elim. I was like 18 and couldn't judge so they had their regional judge come along with the area and local judges.

It took about 6 hours to get through 3 rounds. We did 6 rounds if I remember correctly. Which obviously took two days.

I'm pretty sure you can look up the exact numbers on google. Theres bound to be some info on it.

From what I understand, round numbers are based on player count in Swiss-style. 8 or less is 3 rounds. 9-16 players plays 4 rounds. 17+ plays 5 rounds.

All the places I know of here in the central Ohio area do drafts (and constructed also) all in Swiss style tourneys. That seems to be the rule of how many rounds are played, though I may be off by 1 (becomes 5 rounds at 16 not 17, can't remember for sure which)

With less than 8 people, sometimes its nessisary to have a fourth round for tie breakers. (we had one last night)
