Spell Snare v Kicker

Can I {spell snare} a {gatekeeper of malakir} if the kicker cost was paid?  I believe it is still a 2 CMC regardless if the kicker was paid.

Yeah CMC is just what's in the upper right corner. For instace, if a card had an additional cost of saccing a creature, that wouldn't be in the CMC. Also XU would be 1 I believe.

Values of X are zero everywhere except on the stack. On the stack they are what X is.
