Do effects that say "_______ cost ________ colorless less" apply to X values in any way? For example, say I have {Animar, Soul of Elements} on the field with a few +1/+1 counters on her. Then I play {Apocalypse Hydra}. Would {Animar}'s third ability in any way effect the X I pay for the Hydra? Thanks!

Coffee Vampire

No because the x is an additional casting cost, even though it is up top and not in the text box. X could be zero. Only the set colorless mana amounts are affected.

I thought so, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. Thank you!

Yes it would affect the cost.  If {Animar, Soul of Elements} has 3 +1/+1 counters for example and you cast {Apocalypse Hydra}, here's what happens.
As you cast the spell you put it on the stack.
You choose the value for x (let's say X=5).
Determine cost for spell (base ({5}+{R}+{G}) + addition costs (none) - reductions ({3})).  This gives a final cost of {2}{R}{G}.
Pay the costs.

(I like that you refer to Anima as a her.)

And I have experienced the well known "jester hate" syndrome...

I don't know why, but I read this, looked at the art, and thought "I'm sexy and I know it, wiggle that body! Ahhhh!"

And here I thought my childish fantasies could never be real. I guess all you have to do is believe!

It just feels to me that every creature card is referred to as a 'he'.  Even ones that are obviously females ({Somberwald Sage} for example).

{Desolatus}: Dream a little dream.
