Cackiling Counterpart and Transforming Cards

If I cast {Cackiling Counterpart} on a fliped over transforming card does it copy the side that's in play or the one that I would get if I cast the card from my hand? If the later, does it transform back when the condition calls for it?

Good question!

The {Cackling Counterpart} copies the card it sees.  So, if the card is flipped it will copy the flipped characteristics. Also, since token don't have another side to transform to, the transform ability will do nothing, the token won't change.

I've seen competitive decks using the {Cackling Counterpart} with {Civilized Scholar} to dump all of your creatures in your gy.

How does that work?

Civilized Scholar says:
T: Draw a card, then discard a card. If a creature card was discarded this way, transform Civilized Scholar, then untap it.

If you copy the Dr. Jekyll here, the copy's ability will have you draw, and discard. If it's a creature card, the copy will try to transform, fail to do so, then untap. Repeat as desired.

That's amazing, that would work really well in a pseudo reanimater deck using skaab Ruininator and that to fuel your hand and grave yard. Or, use it with Glissa or Unburrial rites or both to send threats to the field turn four . Thanks for the food for thought!
