Nothing produces wastes. They produce colourless mana.

All lands that produce colorless mana produce the same type of mana as wastes do, colorless mana.

So in a commander game with say a black commander can you also have wastes since it only produces coulorless mana

MTG podcast.
Makes total sense too. Colorless, although it seems to be used as a sixth color for colorless matters in Kozi's brood, is NOT a sixth color.

So  {Birds of Paradise} does not produce colourless mana?

yes, only {B} {U} {W} {R} {G}

I think because it is a crutch. Calling it waste and treating it like a sixth color helps them distigush between colorless and generic mana. I really feel like WotC could have done a better job of explaining to people.

I honestly don't know. To me the rules are clear. But if people still are struggling with it then idk. Plenty of people at my lgs only play locally so they don't follow WotC's website and rules sites.

Yes. Colorless mana is not a color thus does not affect a cards color identiy. As such eldrazi displacer has a white color identity.

Yup. Color identity is determines by mana symbols on the card. The displacer, although colorless, had a white symbol in its cost so it's considered color identity white
