Kaylesh, I'm sad to hear you're in a dark place. If you want to vent I'm here.

As for your statement,

Anything, when broken down to its simplest form, sounds ridiculous.

Words are just different arrangements of 26 letters that somehow have meaning. Some of them are super offensive and terrible. Isn't that weird? Isn't it stupid? We have lines, what you're reading right now, that represent them and make sounds in our heads. Like what?

When it comes to CS:GO skins, yeah it's coding. That coding is art. Art is silly when you think about it. But humans aren't logical creatures. Besides that, what's the moral problem? Where's the ripoff? Taysby is happy. If people are willing to pay it, why not? Sure, it may be technically valueless and the rarity is manufactured. But that's all about perceived value. Don't you have something you love and value that others wouldn't? Maybe a magic card that you'd much rather have then ones of similar value?

CS:GO isn't "ripping people off". If it gave a star boost then I'd have a problem. But it doesn't. It's a cosmetic that people enjoy and are willing to pay for.

All this said, I'm much like you. I'm not going to foil out a deck or blow money on gun skins. I don't value them. Doesn't mean others don't and doesn't mean it's immoral.

But really? $250? I could justify $2.50 for a virtual knife skin but honestly $250 is too expensive for even a real knife, and this is coming from a guy who really loves his knives

Kaylesh

Tx Link. You are very right. Reading back made me realize in how bad a shape I was.
The scams I meant were those where you don't get what's promised to you, or falsehoods are advertised. Taysby's knife doesn't belong in that category. It's more like a buyout, or the diamond market. Artificially reducing stock to raise prices. And if you consider it worth the price, by all means, it's worth it to you.

I too, am not immune to putting my own value on things. The first pages of my binder are actually dedicated to cards of personal value.
An uncommon INI wolf of which I love the art, another with a fingerprint in the top corner. Some of those are easily replaced, yet I will be hesitant to trade them. Personal value, as you said, does not always equate to market value.

Apathy Reactor

Yes.

But paid DLC upon release is some bull.

Yes.

If it's blocked content on the disk, agreed.
If it's a part of the original game they removed because they knew they could get money for separating it, agreed.

Otherwise? No problem IMO.

So, what's rveryone doing for Halloween? I'm showing up to a party across the street, having a drink, then going home and probably playing League.

Not going to parties. They bore me. I'm going to consult my college nurse to see if I really have depression. Got curious because of this:

They bore me too. That's why I'm not staying.

I've had depression, it's nasty. I certainly hope you don't.

Apathy Reactor

Going to a costume party as Roy Trenneman. Which is really just going dressed as myself.

Breaking out the reaper costume again

Kaylesh

Every Samhain is a party here.
My son is born 31-10-09, so big party for a 6-year old :)

Nurse said he'd be a handful, with that b-day. Certainly is: yesterday he announced marrying three different girls at the same time and having 16 kids with one of them.

(He reasoned he could be faithful to all of them at once)
