If i had a {giant growth} On a {ball lightning} and it got destroyed during combat, would kresh get 9 counters or just 6?

The main question is this.. Does the "power" of a creature equal the number in the bottom right at all times, or is it equal to how many counters, buffs, etc. it has on it at that moment

You'd use last known information to determine how many counters - 9 in this instance.
