Ok so i dont follow standard at all but usually i can tell when a new card can be good in eternal formats.  I dont know if anyone has ever made this comparison but i realized that {abbot of keral keep} is like {snapcaster mage} only more chaotic.

Here is why:
Snapcaster nets use of 1 extra card you could not have used before and so does abbot.
Abbot cannot specifically hit something which is reds play style so that is fine.
Abbot can however hit permanents which is really cool.
Another neat thing is that abbot can synergize with delve whereas snapcaster is eating your delve targets.
No flash but prowess can be good.

Just some realizations i came across and i think the card will see eternal format play soon.  So i went ahead and bought a foil playset for aroumd $11 per lol

Mr_Fahrenheit

It already is seeing eternal play. Hasn't really found a home yet, but people are trying it.

I am {ponder}ing a grixis build with him, gurmag, tasigur, and cantrips and what not.

Codester1991

He's been in a Jund list that Top8ed so he's definitely gona find a home somewhere.

Rasser

How about {R}{G}  {Courser of Kruphix},  {Noxious Revival},  {Hooting Mandrills}

Falcon182

I'm not sure it's good enough for eternal, honestly. It takes a lot of work to set up and you can't play it on curve to any benefit... Maybe there's a shell for it though, I'm not sure.

Falcon182

Maybe modern. I was just thinking legacy-wise. Maybe in burn?

Kaalia with haste

Gerry Thompson has a grixis Abbott deck together on modo.

Abbot doesn't have flash. Which is what really pushes snapcaster to absurdity.

It's still good and has potential but I don't think it will be the eternal all star that snapcaster is.

LinkCelestrial

The thing is you don't want {Abbot of Keral Keep} in your opening hand. You don't really want {Snapcaster Mage} either but the decks it's in cares less.

{Snapcaster Mage} is a solid four of auto include.

{Abbot of Keral Keep} doesn't have me convinced.

{Snapcaster Mage} is was will be better.

That's not to say {Abbot of Keral Keep} isn't eternally playable. That's to say that I'm not convinced. I'd work on mono red aggro that can midrange, but I don't like the deck type. Maybe that's not even the shell, but it's what I see.

The other big thing is snap can be reactive and proactive. Abbot is neither unless you can manipulate the top of your deck.
