Notes:
Decided to bring the {Jace's Phantasm}s back. With {Lingering Souls} in the board, post board I can have a decent little Aggro strategy.

Mr_Fahrenheit

I like the deck. It just looks a little light on the mill spells though doesn't it? People play around archive trap even if they havent seen it yet so you will often have to rely on hard casting those, otherwise they become dead cards. Just my 2 cents.

I've been thinking the same thing myself, thoughts on dropping a {Remand} and an {Inquisition of Kozilek} in favor of 2 {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver}s?

InfinitiveDivinity

Hmm, maybe right there. Dropped a Phantasm too and bumped Ashiok up to 3.

Why no {Mind Funeral}?

Why no {Mind Funeral}?
After some very extensive play testing, I finally came to the conclusion that card is terrible.

It's results will vary based on land distribution, but with about 1:2 ratio land:spells you should be looking at 12 cards milled average. Sounds pretty good. How come terrible in your experience?

This is the biggest reason why you DON'T play it. I ran a build quite similar to this for literally a good 2 years, running a full playset of Funerals. I've seen literally every scenario that plays out for this card. Sure, I've pulled off a 20 card flip against 18 land mono-red, but on the same hand I've seen a 4 card from 18 land mono-red. I'm being 100% serious. It's just too much gambling for my taste. That card has cost me games. I had a match where I was in topdeck mode with my opponent had 5 cards left, drew a Funeral and hit for 4. It was some seriously sh💩tty luck, for sure, but with that card it's possible. I can promise you that {Mind Funeral} is just a 3 mana {Mind Sculpt}, I've hit for 6-8 so many times that I started making notes on every casting for a whole FNM month, it averaged 7. If I want to run {Mind Sculpt}, I run {Breaking // Entering}. If I drew a Breaking there instead, I won. Let me make a comparison for ya on a hypothetical card.

Some Burn Spell         {R}

Sorcery

Roll a six sided die: If you roll a six, Some Burn Spell does 4 damage to target creature or player; if a five, does 3 damage; anything else, 1 damage.

----------------------------------------------------------

Burn would not run this card, and I don't want to either. It's just too dependent on luck. Not to be so harsh in my reply, I just burned the wagon for this card a long time ago. I'm just the kind of guy that likes casting spells that win, instead of crossing my fingers on miracles.

Mr_Fahrenheit

My advice would be to maybe relegate surgical extraction to the sideboard and play breaking.

Surgical is essential for winning my game 1s against Tron, Twin and Scapeshift. It also just completely hoses other occasional combo decks, and can act as a nasty hand shredder following up an Inquisition.

I've been pushing it for a long time haha.

Anoobass

Mill has always had a soft spot in my heart, nobody likes it when they see the card they needed to draw was right on top and goes straight to the yard.  BUT, problem is mill is maybe tier 2, maybe...  It doesn't have the power that it needs.  It's fun in all, but I don't see it ever being any higher than that without some seriously good cards printed.

Anoobass

Also, why no oboro?  It's strictly better than an island and helps in case no land drop for crab?
