Not you, OP. The principle behind the rule of 9 is to pick 9 cards that would work well together, put 4 of each of then in a deck and add 24 lands. Make cuts as necessary and you'll be left with your deck. Cuts are obviously things like {timely reinforcements} where you don't want 4 because they're so bad if you draw more than one. If anything you're advocating the rule of 9.
