I think he means the combination between Bassandra and the forts. You are never forced to pay costs to enable attacks. However, since EDH, if your other opponents don't require taxes, you have to attack one of them.

And remember Bassandra only blocks spells, not abilities.
So if I'm reading this correctly, in a 1v1 when you have a fort out they don't have to attack when you use bassandra's ability on one of their creatures?

Besides all this, I think {ajani vengeant} would be really good in this deck.
They have to attack, but they have to pay if they can, granted they can float mana pre combat..
From the card rulings:
If, during a player's declare attackers step, a creature is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't attack, or hasn't been under that player's control continuously since the turn began (and doesn't have haste), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having a creature attack, the player isn't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack in that case either.
The judges have betrayed me
Well, kinda depends on what exactly they said.
The way I read it, if there is a way the creature can attack, it has to, even if not you. You could send creatures from opponent A into opponent B's amazing defenses even while you have the forts.

In multiplayer, sure.

But the conversation was 1v1.

{Aurelia, the War Leader} can really do some work as a finisher.

I would think a man-land or two to get hits in under {humility}

To my understanding, the land becomes a creature, is overlayed by humility, is a 1/1 with no abillities until end of turn, when it converts back. Am I wrong? I don't think this would get around {Humillity}.

When the lands animate, you'll have two abilities setting p/t to a specific value in layer 7B. These are applied in timestamp order.

613.6b: A continuous effect generated by the resolution of a spell or ability receives a timestamp at the time it's created.

So, the activated land will get around humility if activated after humility hits the field.

This was a deck I believe back in the day. Humility, mainland, and every counter you could think of, and wrath effects as well.

{humility} + {nausea} = board wipe.
Or with a {pestilence} for wipe on a stick.

Edit: not in this deck though.
