I just played some matches with this deck on untap.. I had multiple turn 2 kills and the latest I went off was turn 5, because I kept one land. I ended up killing him the second I saw it. Do you guys think this deck should be banned? It does things modern shouldn't be able to do

I lost to it t2. He didn't play a land t1 discarded grisel, t2 played a swamp and exiled spirit guide to bring back grisel attacked once then drew 21 cards to burn me with that one card that allows you to do whatever amount of damage if you exile so many cards. Sucked. It's a cool concept tho but I consider it a kamikaze deck.

I haven't seen it play but Bob Huang was so impressed with it! Now I know untap is fine but it's not an indicator of strength I mean I out up Competiive Modern and play a Knights deck ...

Still though haven't seen it play but is it consistent?

It's pretty consistent :)

T1 faithless looting throw grisel in grave
T2 goryos vengeance bring him back, swing, pay 21 life to find the 4 burn spells to kill your opponent

It seems fast but unlike Amulet Bloom it seems much more susceptible to hate. Can this deck play through {Leyline of the Void}? I don't know...Zach Jesse T8'd but Huang got 47th at the GP, so the deck isn't unbeatable. It looks sweet though. Turn 2 {Griselbrand} is no joke.

Also, I think I'm a little confused. Outside of {Borborygmos Enraged}, the lists from the GP don't play any burn spells so not sure how the Turn 2 kill happens. Is it: Loot, Grisel, draw a ton, exile a bunch of spirit guides, through the breach borborygmos, discard tons of land gg?

Edit: NVM, went and watched the deck tech. It's sort of what I thought but I see now that you can draw the deck via {Worldspine Worm}/{Nourishing Shoal}.
You got the main win con right in the second paragraph. And yea, it can play through grave hate with four copies of through the breach and lots of draw spells to find them

I played it just for fun, but holy .poo. it was super consistent.

The burn I was speaking of was {Soul Spike}

So basically you fetch or shock yourself your first turn, they swing with grisel t2 for 7 bring you to 11, then draw till they have all the soul spikes and kill you

I'm very interested. I saw a list using {Simian Spirit Guide} and some jank a while back that kinda sucked but this sounds awesome. I just might make a list.

Or just copy bob huangs?

LinkCelestrial

I never really copy a list. I always tweak it to my taste as well as trying to improve it.

There is VERY minimal room for tweaking that deck

Didn't the old glass cannon version do the extra attack step red card? Is this version better?

It's more consistent and doesn't need to attack to win so yes it is

I feel like {Footsteps of the Gyro} could get in there. {Night's Whisper} is a bit sub-optimal. I think the extra discard from {Tormenting Voice} would be nice. The mana base could kinda use a tweak. I want to find room for {Soul Spike} too maybe. There are some options. Nothing ridiculous.
