I have never played modern so I was using cards that I was fairly familiar with
If anyone has any suggestions on replacements they would be greatly appreciated

For starters {treasure cruise} is banned in the modern format buddy.

Personally a lot of this is strong standard stuff but falls flat in modern especially the walkers. Narset and Zarek won't have time to do anything in a modern game significant enough for a spot.

Let's start with land base.
Definitely need to bump the flooded strands up to 4, followed by another fetch land up to 4. If you can't get a hold of scalding tarns or arid mesas I recommend polluted deltas or bloodstained mires. Sun petal groves need to go they're useless I don't see a green spell anywhere so you can either put in a basic land or use that spot for the fetches. Also, your three main shock lands you may want to bring up to 4 each. A good land also is {desolate lighthouse} to keep your hand full. All the buddy lands you have aren't as strong as the could be I'd drop them for some basic lands. Oh, almost forgot, that temple of triumph has to go. You need to be able to have all the mana as possible in the modern format because it's a super fast format so tapped lands aren't seen unless they have some amazing ability that comes with them such as {creeping tar pit}

Creatures,
Geist- Great card good number
Mantis rider- ehhhh three drop perfect mana fixing and prevents you from controlling the board, I'd drop him
Stormbreath- way too expensive for a control deck he should go
Other options
{delver of secrets} a staple in all control decks
{young Pyromancer} same as delver they're just too good.
{snapcaster Mage} Gawd damn he good and annoying to play against, once again a staple in every modern control deck.

other Spells
Personally I'm gonna say the walkers should go.
Spells to think about adding
{electrolyze}
{remand}
{path to exile}
{cryptic command}
{shadow of doubt}
{thought scour}
{spell snare}
{ghostly prison}
{blood moon}
If you want a good planeswalker {ajani Vengeant}

But these are just options to look at and advice :)

Munchlax

Cyc rift is also probably too slow and {Gideon Jura} is also a good walker

Thanks for the help.
Again I've never played modern so I didn't know about the ban
I don't really want to drop all that money on snap casters though I know how good they are
I don't really understand why delver is a staple I don't like the card but I would like someone to explain to me why it is good
And I'm guessing electrolyze is good because of how popular lingering souls is?

There is just a lot of stuff that I don't know about this format yet so bear with me

Well delver is good because he is a 1 drop that upon your upkeep has the possibility of flipping to a 3/2 flyer that pings your opponent for 3 each turn so you put pressure on them early and If they don't deal with it it usually kills them especially if you drop 2 more turn 2 or 3. Also electrolyze is good because it kills souls, noble Hierarchs, birds of paradise, and many other 1-2 toughness creatures and the card draw on top of it is what the real big deal is. You won't find me dropping 80 dollars on a snapcaster so I'm right there with you. Lol anyways, modern is a very fun format, once you're in it for a few months you'll get the general idea of it and what cards to look out for etc.

I can bump my Jeskai Counterburn list if you're interested in seeing something similar.

{Jace, Architect of Thought} is another very solid Planeswalker. He's not great against everything but he is very solid and fun.

I don't personally agree with {Delver of Secrets} unless you're going Jeskai Tempo instead of control. My list runs {Young Pyromancer}, {Monastery Mentor} and {Snapcaster Mage} as the only creatures.

{Supreme Verdict} is a fantastic way to catch up when you're behind. 10/10 must have, at least in sideboard.

No {Path to Exile}? Tsk tsk.

And if you really want to play a big dragon play {Thundermaw Hellkite}
