You must have a crummy school if lots of people are being mean to you about it.
I'm homeschooled xD I just have a crummy family/church ;)

Oh yeah...  I can see church members not liking it because it's "too extreme". They shouldn't be mean to you though.
THANK you. It's not like it's a totally baptist church either, I don't get it. But I feel so much better about myself with an edgy hairstyle, so screw them ;)

This is why I loved the church I went to when I was younger. The worship team used electric giatars and actually got to go all out. We once had a service about Metalica and how there is good music that isn't Christian. During said service there was a fog machine and the worship band played Metalica songs.

That church was amazing. Everybody showed up in casual clothes, even the pastor. There were free bagels with all kinds of cream cheeses before the service. Nobody was judgemental. It was honestly IMO proper Christianity. Loving your neighbour, just hanging out.

I miss that place. Christianity is such a mess... Did you ever check out Christian: What is it? By Andy Stanley? Sounds like you know some people that need to hear it.
Where is this place????? I'm moving there, Metallica in CHURCH?!?! That's totally my kind of thing ;) I confess to listening to Slipknot instead of the sermon once cause they were trying to preach the "women should be submissive little doormats" thing 😂😂😂 and I have never heard of that, I'll go check it out :D

If god would have wanted women to be mindless laundromat baby factory, he would have given them less potential to be an individual... But then again I'm an European leftie...

This is part of why I like being an atheist, we don't have to go hang around with a bunch of judgemental people. Just to be clear, I'm not saying all Christians are assholes, the people on this forum who are Christian, I like you, you are nice people. I will say however that of all the religions out there Christianity seems to have the most (in numbers) hateful people and it goes way back. I apologize if this offends anyone

Rass

I have to disagree with you. Hate is in the person they just use religion to support it.

Agreed. Religion in itself is never hateful, even satanism in its purest form isn't as far as I understand, though I'm no expert. People use and pervert religion for their own ends. Be it the Christian crusaders or the antichrists sects that burn down churches, they want one thing, and it had little to do with spirituality. Power.

Technically you aren't disagreeing, that is part of my point, most of these nasty people who use their religion to justify their hate just happen to be Christians, which actually makes me sad because I hate the fact that people like that are in any way associated with my Christian friends and family who are very nice and accepting people. I personally have no problem with anyone having religious beliefs, as long as you aren't using your religion to justify your hate or trying to cram your religion down my throat I will respect the fact that your beliefs are different from mine

Rass

This I read as you saying atheists don't judge. But I'm positive some are judge mental. They just don't blame it on religion.

That is definitely not what I'm saying, there are good people and assholes in every belief system, I'm just saying if someone goes all judgemental on me I flip them off and tell them to go f themself, but in church you can't really do that, it's rather frowned upon

Rass

All good. I was just saying how I read it. I agree with you. I'm not a religious person, but I won't take it away from someone who is doing good by it.

Exactly. And the thing is the bible doesn't support it at all. Jesus purposely and knowingly invited himself to a tax collector's house (the very bad men of that day) for lunch. Hung out with prostitutes. Said the second greatest commandment was to love your neighbour as yourself when he was only even asked what the greatest commandment is. Nearing his death he restated love your neighbour as yourself over and over. I truly believe the world would be a much better place if Christians actually read and followed the bible. This mess is why I'm no longer a Christian. I'm a disciple.

(Fun fact, Christian appears in the bible twice. It was originally a derogatory term invented by the Romans. Jesus issues most of his commands to his disciples, and tells them to "go make more disciples".)

As for the "women are doormats blah blah". Whether you believe we were created or evolved, the end results came out differently for a reason. That's why men are inclined to different things than women and visa versa. This doesn't mean there is only one way. This doesn't mean boys shall not play with Barbies. This means that people need to stop bashing it so hard. Live and let live. Get the job you want, play with the toys you want. Live your life. But as soon as you start intruding on how I live there's a problem. And if I'm not letting you live there's a problem.

In a demand for acceptance people aren't being accepting.

In a demand to be allowed to do what they want people aren't allowing others to do what they want.

If people embraced "live and let live" the world would be a better place. It's never going to happen but still.

Heats Flamesman

Half-Jew here. So much easier than I imagine Christianity is.
