ive never been a huge fan of drafting, but in the interest of honing my pro player skills, I'm starting to do FNM. And tonight was actually kind of fun. No cocky annoying players in my pod. I hope FNM continues to be enjoyable.

Just remind the cocky douches that it is just a game.  My LGS is so cool...I am fairly new to it and everyone there is pretty humble and I like that.  There are guys who got first in SCG events and placed top in Grand Prix and what not.

Everyone is pretty laid back.   I am a stickler about rules but I am not an ass about it.  I was playing a guy who was running turbo fog and he would cast {silence} on my turn.  I reminded him that he technically needed to announce and play it during my upkeep if he wanted me not to play spells in my main phase.  The dude was no noob but I could not get him to understand this and it just took some polite coaching to get him to understand how priority works and he was cool about it.  Some cocky ass would have taken that criticism much different and I would have punsihed him by calling the judge for rulings if he wanted to push it.  I understood when he wanted to play the silence and would never take advantage of someone who did not understand this fact....my goal was to get him to understand how to play it correctly so no one else took advantage of how he was playing it and thankfully he was receptive ☺

We had problems with cocky guys who placed decent at regionals and act like they are top 8. They would harass everyone and would make drafts very unfun. They would normally have half a pod be from their play group, and would demand that the "lower" players leave certain cards and colors so they could draft what they wanted. They kicked guys out of their group if they wouldn't comply.

That really deserves a ban from the store...

The store was hesitant to outright ban because 1. We are a smaller mtg community and losing their 10 man group's constant business would have been a huge loss, and 2. The "leaders" of that group had already effectively shut down a store that banned them through boycotts, getting people to steal from them, and even planted counterfeit cards in their junk boxes, then other people "discovered" them. Everyone knew they did it, but no one could prove it.

Myself and several other regulars at the current LGS made it a point to make their experience so bad, that they quit the shop themselves. We convinced 7 people in their group to leave and find a better group, built decks specifically to beat his and demolished him constantly, and a few guys would jump into every draft pod he was in and sit on either side of him and make sure he didn't get the cards he needed.

He and the other problem person decided to go to the shop 2 towns over, and ever since, the overall vibe has been much better. Everyone is having a good time again. And we have already let the shop that they went to know what's going on, and they said that they will let them pile up lots of offenses then get their DCI yanked. That shop is 2 blocks away from UC Davis, so they don't have any shortage of customers.
