I like the deck, 25 lands seems a bit steep, maybe thats just me.

I'm thinking about that but my 4 drop slot is flooded with siege and fanatic. I haven't updated but currently I'm running 4 sieges (too OP not to)

That totally makes sense, but in a standard format like this where good evasive creatures come at a premium, I feel like this guy should have some spots in almost any red deck. He gives you reach, and more or less protects himself. Also for what it's worth he's two pips

{flamewake Phoenix} is a must for combating other midrange strategies. Also a fine card vs control.
