Im gonna be heading to GPLA in two weeks and don't have any clue what to play. I just got back into collecting recently but haven't played an event in close to 6 months. Am I best suited just giving in and playing Abzan?

It's a pretty solid deck right now, Sidisi Whip (or Sultai) is also quite decent, I've heard good things about {U}/{B} Control as well. Then again, I don't play Standard, so probably not the best authority to answer this.

I'd really like somebody to do well with a {Ensoul Artifact} deck...In my opinion the most competitive decks in standard right now are,

{Villainous Wealth} with {Karametra's Acolyte}. There are a few infinite mana combos, and you get to play green midrange with the help of black to keep off aggro until you can cast for a huge X cost. And blue makes sure you can stay competitive in control matchups. Such a solid deck right now.

Sidisi Whip. It's well known and really good. It does have the drawbacks of being heavily susceptible to sideboard hate but it's one of the funnest decks to pilot.

{U}/{B} control. Thanks to the {Crux of Fate} print it doesn't need to lean so heavily on the slow board wipe of {Perilous Vault}. It does have a bit of a bad matchup vs {B}/{U} heroic and fails hardcore to my {Ensoul Artifact} deck (like 80-20 for Ensoul) but it's solid.

Jeskai Tokens. A violently dangerous deck that is even better with {Monastery Mentor}.

If you'd like my lists of any of these (except for {U}/{B} control that I don't play) let me know.

What about abzan, rw, sultai control, mardu midrange, UW heroic, Temur ascendancy, or bg constellation? No offence, but I think those are all better than a janky villainous wealth deck.

{Villainous Wealth} is not a janky deck. It is tried and true. It really doesn't like control as it needs board position to be dangerous, but it's still impressive. Abzan is good, but other stuff is better IMO. RW has been annoying, I've never played vs sultai control, mardu midrange didn't impress me, UW heroic is quite dangerous, I've never played vs Temur Ascendancy, and BG constellation is ridiculously annoying, but falls hard to GY hate and consistent removal.
