So, to jump start this party, has anyone read any Isaac Asimov?

Yes but Arthur C Clarke is better. :)

Hmmm....I do really like Clarke but there is something about Asimov's writing style....

It's a close call. Have you ever read John Scalzi? He's one of my new favorites with his humorous spin on things. Redshirts is quite hilarious.

Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth

I have read some Asimov. I really like I, Robot despite it being very different from the movie

Thetrufflehunter

Started reading Foundation, but couldn't slog through the .politics. and put it down. Picked it back up, same issue. I'll try again down the road.

Read the beginning of Redshirts while my friend had it, seems good.

Did you start with the original trilogy? Because it is so much easier to start with Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation ;)

Added to my library list xD is he similar to Douglas Adams and Hitchhiker's Guide?

I bought some books today, managed to complete my Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, my Airborn trilogy (Kenneth Oppel, great author), and my Inkheart trilogy, still looking to get Darkwing to complete my Silverwing series

I liked Guardians of Ga'Hoole! The Inkheart series is on my list, too.

Not saying anything bad about Douglas Adams (because Hitchhikers trilogy is my favorite thing ever), the main difference between him and Scalzi is Douglas Adams starts with a normal scifi presence and adds a ton of irreverent things, Scalzi tends to try and take an irreverent starting point and build off of it for a real story.

And the Redwall series by Brian Jaques!

At a bit of a lower reading level but along the same lines as Airborn, Airman by Eoin Colfer and the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld are also pretty good.

YUSSSSS. I am a huge Eoin Colfer fan. Artemis Fowl, anyone?

Also, just finished the Legend series by Marie Lu. Quite good.
