So let's say a equals b

A = B

So A^2 =AB

Thus this statement is true

a^2 + a^2 = a^2 + ab

So condensing this turns to

2a^2 = a^2 + ab

And if we add a negative 2ab to both sides

2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 + ab - 2ab

Simplify the right side we get

2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 - ab

Rewrite this to a simple form we get

2(a^2 - ab) = 1(a^2 - ab)

Then we divide the common factor from each to get

2=1

Right??????

Wrong, when you simified the one side, you should've simplified the other side... Right?

No you don't have to do that they still equal the same just look different. But something is wrong this this
