Ethics of Planesmanders

How do you all feel about planeswalkers as commanders? Does it seem wrong/cheap? What are your thoughts on allowing all PW as generals?

I'm not sure how I feel about it. They are harder to remove, but can't be enchanted with hexproof or shroud, (I think), so maybe that evens it out? Harder to tuck them for sure.

I like PWs as generals as long as they're 4+ CMC bc a Turb 2 Domri or Ashiok is just stupid IMO but I like it and it's not as broken as you'd think bc you can't do broken combos with them (well not as easily anyways)

Like it's better than having {Mikaeus the Unhallowed} as your general and then top decking {Triskillion}

Since  it is a planes walked then you can attack them also. I think that levels the field a little.

The ones made for commander seemed balanced, any ordinary pw could get out of hand fast

Planeswalkers aren't super strong in EDH, I don't envision it being much of a problem. If you look at what they cost when they hit the battlefield:

Lithomancer: 5 mama put a 1/1 and equip it. I probably wouldn't pay 5 mana for that. OR 5 mana put an equipment onto the battlefield from hand or graveyard. Still not imagining thats worth 5 mana.

Teferi: 6 mana {Preordain} OR {Peregrine Drake}? I don't know.

Ob Nixilis: 5 mana deal 3 damage and gain 3 life? Nope. Put a 5/5 demon? Maybe thats worth 5 mana? Not really.

Daretti seems good.

Freyalise is 5 mana {Llanowar Elves} or {Naturalize}

Planeswalkers this expensive make it REALLY hard to survive a full table rotation until it's your turn again, then you've got to pay Commander tax - the effects only get worse. It kind of makes sense

I dunno, {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} t3 vs a {Mayael the Anima} deck might be lol city for the ashiok commander

Or {Jace, the Mind Sculptor} as commander.

If {Jace, the Mind Sculptor} drew 7 cards, it would be that broken. You draw 2 and then have to wait for 3 other players to do anything before you can use him again.

{Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} is {Nephalia Drownyard} 1 opponent and ultimate is {Identity Crisis}. Not seeing the brokenness.

Planeswalkers in general are worse then Modal spells. The fantasy exists in using them over and over, which is what they do in all other eternal formats. Commander is a little more drawn out. Ultimates rarely happen, most of the time you get to watch someone pay 4 for {Brainstorm} and maybe {Fog} a tiny bit of damage?

Yeah, permanents. So it's like a blue {Seedborn Muse}. Color me unimpressed. I just don't see the action.

I don't like them... Wizards keeps making commander products that print some fun stuff but also screw up a lot... Looking at you kaalia/derevi/oloro/Edric.

Also Elliott the two most played tuck spells are {Chaos Warp} and {Oblation}, so they're not that much harder to tuck

Hey, don't knock it until you've played with them.  They've made them powerful, but not busted, and they're probably balanced fine for multiplayer.  I'm looking forward to what new stuff it'll bring tot the table.

Not sure I can agree with the comment that Kaalia's broken. Derevi definitely is. Oloro's just stupid. Not sure about Edric though.

Trust me, I have a Edric deck in our playgroup, tis' very good.
