is "mana burn" a thing? Like an ability generates more mana than you can spend and you take one damage for each produced? I've never heard this get brought up and I feel like I got tricked 15 years ago...

Tabooist

It's not a current thing. I couldn't tell ya when they did away with it but I know mana burn is an old school concept. No longer relevant unless you wanna play by house rules and enjoy a dose of nostalgia.

mickeven

it used to be a thing and then they removed it from the rules, so it doesnt exist anymore. so you didnt get duped 15 years ago, but now, dont fall for it!

GamenDork

You weren't tricked 15 years ago, but you would be now. Wizards got rid of mana burn all together during the M10 Rules Changes (I think they got rid of damage on the stack as well as a few other things)

Wow...thanks a lot guys! That really does change things for our home games. And no...I don't need the nostalgia...lol @ that

you know.. theres one thing I miss about mana burn.. when my opponent played some really OP creature that would kill me next turn and I mana burned myself to death so that they wouldnt be able to use their sweet creature on me.. sucky it person that just thought you would be me! I beat myself off!! wait.. that sounds weird...

You can always concede. At any time. Player says: I'll attack you with my 250 goblins I got from  {Krenko, Mob Boss}. That moment you can just concede and not lose to his monster.

Not as fun as tapping all your mana, getting your opponent scared that you may have a response, and instead of playing anything, you start singing Usher's Let It Burn while you hold a lighter up and burn one of your tapped lands.
