There is approximately a 0% chance of it mutating to become airborne.

Panic is more dangerous to us than Ebola. The outbreak in Africa is an awful, terrible thing. But like people have already stated, it's so rampant there because of how substandard the living conditions and healthcare are. This is a fluid-borne virus that requires immediate contact through an infected person's blood, sweat, vomit, or sexual fluids. Don't touch these, practice basic cleanliness (shower daily, wash hands often, especially if interacting with others who may have somehow had contact) and you'll be fine.

More people will die in America this year drowning in toilets than from Ebola. There's no reason to freak out.

I agree, http://mic.com/articles/100418/jon-stewart-points-out-all-the-ways-republicans-aren-t-interested-in-saving-american-lives

Look past the .politics., there are literally thousands of things that we should be more afraid of than Ebola.

While I share the concern for this, a lot of people are content shrugging off that this virus poses any kind of threat. I'm not saying lets go martial law panic mode, but people need to at least be aware that one A@$!hole who says I'm fine who incidentally has the virus could end up massacring a very large number of the population.

Yes, it's only transmitted through contact, however, even that is a serious threat, if patient A who's infected was staying somewhere, they basically need to take everything from that house (including the house) and jettison it off the planet >.>

Wanna know the best part about all this? Just watched Outbreak in my science class last year ;~;

Also, (not sure of any truth behind this so if it sounds bananas don't attack me >.<) but I've heard people say that a few weeks prior to the whole Texas thing there was a case reported in the Midwest. Now I haven't been able to find any info on this. So it could be complete BS. But meh...that's the Internet for you.

Dude. You can't call somebody an a-hole for having Ebola. That's just sick.

I believe he's calling him an a hole for refusing to do anything about it.  not just the fact that he has it.
Yes...I wouldn't call someone that for being sick that's just a D-move
It's like that person that gets bit by a zombie and tells everyone "I tripped on some glass"
That's what I meant. No. I feel awful for the people affected. But if you're infected or something or even think you've risked it, you should probably fess up a bit.

That's all I meant.

This really isn't nearly as big of a problem as the news is trying to make it. Experts have said that even in a confined space such as a household, the chances are an infected person would only infect 1/7 people, the chances are even lower when you aren't in a confined space. People fear what they don't understand, and the news is just making things worse because it's good for their ratings. The truth is, in America we have an amazing health care system and are quite hygienic, so this virus is not a threat to us, but people look at Africa where thousands are getting sick and freaking out. As long as we don't go around licking people, we won't have an epidemic.

Ah. Ok. Sounded like you were saying, "Oh, Ebola? What an ass."

How many people died from the bird flu or swine flu in the USA ?  Remember all the hype about that.

MuggyWuggy

It did take them 3 months to identify that Ebola had an outbreak in Africa.....
