When something says all lands are islands in addition to their other types; ei {stormtide leviathan}, does that change the way lands produce mana as well?

There are plenty of other cards like this, so I've always wondered....

Mattao19

If a land is an Island it can always produce {U} (unless say a {Blood Moon} and the land was a {Breeding Pool}

But giving a land a basic land type allows that land to tap for that type. {Prismatic Omen} allows your lands (even {Mutavault}) to tap for ANY color :P

Oldschoolmtgnoob

Holy crap...well that's kind of a game changer...thanks!

Mattao19

Also note that:

{Blood Moon} makes it so your {Breeding Pool} ONLY taps for {R}

And

{Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth} make your {Breeding Pool} tap for {U} {G} OR {B}

But both trigger X-Walk BM turns Mountain Walk and Urborg turns on Swampwalk

Mr_Fahrenheit

Unless they are out at the same time, then blood moon wins.

Lets just finish this by saying even if all of these lands and enchantments are out.  {storm tide leviathan} would still allow all lands to tap for {U}

so heres a magic judges blog discussing lots of interactions with {blood moon}.

http://blogs.magicjudges.org/articles/2013/06/18/blood-moon-in-a-modern-environment/

the wording is basically exactly the same as {urborg, tomb of yawgmoth} so the same interaction should apply. {blood moon} should win against {stormtide leviathan} and {urborg, tomb of yawgmoth} in the exact same fashion. nonbasic lands should only have tap add {R} to your mana pool.

Isn't it what came down first? Like say I have 3 no basics and a forest and then my opp play {Blood Moon} next turn I play {Prismatic Omen} and I'm good to go?

But reverse the scenario and I'm fucked

Yes but with urborg, blood moon changes it, while prismatic omen doesn't get changed.

xDeGroatx

Blood moon only changes non basic so storm tide changes basic to also islands so how would that work?

nonbasics would be mountains and basics would be islands in addition to their types.

Mr_Fahrenheit

It's all about layers, and specifically for blood moon's case, it's about dependencies.
