(Am I able to re-attempt an action that I obviously just failed? For example, look for buildings of interest again?)

Yes, you may re attempt actions. Just note that some are guaranteed to fail regardless of roll.

Gorzo: doesn't see any repair shops in the immediacy vicinity, but assumes there must be one downtown or to the west.

Taysby: leaps on Gorzo's back, miraculously not causing either of them to fall.
