Copy of creature

If I copy a creature ie {vampire nighthawk} with for example {progenitor mimic} would the mimic become black or retain it's color id?

It enters as an exact copy, so it will just be black.

If the card that is doing the copying retains any of its characteristics or abilities, it will let you know on the card.
