Why does everyone think {Prognostic Sphinx} is so awesome ?

RUGmonster

Because scry 3, it doesn't die by removal or board wipes, and it doesn't die to elspeth

Its the answer to Elspeth, that's why. It does die to boardwipes, boardwipes don't target so Hexproof does nothing to stop them.

Bc you play RUG lol jk :P

Also it's a solid control finisher (obvi AEtherling is better) but he rotates soon

Silent1236

IMO he is like {Pack Rat}. It's not necessarily good, there is just nothing better to replace it.

Idk I think he's great. One of the best rares to draft and in a control deck that's drawing cards he's almost untouchable. But he does get tapped down a lot which is a huge downside :(

This about it this way: Pretty much every time you tap him down to give him hexproof, you're trading cards 1-for-1 with Removal spells, but you still have your fatty.  Sphinx is solid.  Unless Khans says otherwise, he might be the finisher of choice for control decks.  Not as easy to protect as AEtherling, sure, but you get to blank spot removal by trading a card.

Exactly!

Except (sadly) he dies to wipes unlike AEtherling :(

This. The only other resililiant threat we have is {Reaper of the Wilds}, but that is a ground creature, requires a commitment to GB, requires mana to activate the ability, and is god awful against Elspeth were as Dumbledore Sphinx is amazing against her.
