Trap Timing

When an opponent fetches their {Arid Mesa} at the end of my turn and starts search and I have {Archive Trap} when do I announce AT? When they start fetching? Or as a response to their land entering the battlefield?

Well, they haven't actually searched their library until the ability resolves, so you have to wait until after that.  You still get priority after the ability finishes, though, to cast your Trap.  Basically, any time between when they fetch and before you would discard down to 7.

Once a player discards, it is the cleanup step and it is too late to play a spell.
