Fireball, x = 6 with an extra target costs 8 mana, and can deal 6 total damage to 2 targets.

Comet storm, x = 5 kicked once, costs 8 mana and will deal 5 damage to one target and 5 damage to another.

It's also important to note that fireball has to split that damage equally among its targets. So although it might be 6 total damage to two targets, it must be 3 and 3.

Did not catch that, thank you :)

Splitting the damage evenly vs blasting everything is why {Comet Storm} is better.

Umm...no. {Skullcrack} can't hit creatures and its ability of not gaining life is only good against {Sphinx's Revelation}.

Also damage can't be prevented which kinda helps but I'm with you I much prefer {Searing Spear}

I have bias against {Searing Spear} as it's literally {Lightning Bolt} for {1} extra. {Skullcrack}'s utility makes me like it better.

{incenerate} is better over {searing spear} just for the exile

{punishing fire}
{Lightning ax}

{Punishing Fire} is pretty situational. Most of the time {Skullcrack} is better as they're going to be gaining more life than {Punishing Fire} dishes back.

{Lightning Axe} is creature only therefore fail.

For {Punishing Fire}, {Grove of the Burnwillows} makes for infinite kill spells. Lightning Axe is solid gold in limited.

I'm talking to the face burn not creature removal.

The synergy works for burn to the face too

It doesn't seem very cost effective. That being said it's not bad, and I'm struggling to come up with something better.

Mattao19

Maybe not cost effective but it's a free burn spell every turn guarenteed (unless they exile it)

Stromack

{pyroclasm}
{bonfire of the damned}
{electolyze}
{magmaquake} <---- my favorite

Look at the punishing Jund legacy deck. It revolves around getting a lock and burning them out with this synergy.
