Respond to land drops

Say I have a {Courser of Kruphix} out and I play a land can my opponent {Doom Blade} Courser so I don't gain life?

Also what about the same thing but with {Hedrom Crab} instead of Courser

Playing a land doesn't use the stack nor require priority to be passed therefore cannot be responded to.

You can respond to the trigger, but it will still resolve even if the creature is dead.
